I'm color blind so it'll be one paper clip, it looks chromed, compared to the Renishaw tool with a Wilson hardness tester if iu can get them to stay still...

I would think a paper clip is softer than the provided tool and therefore would deform quicker...just a guess though.

If you have the joystick with a rotating knob on top to manually move Z axis the spring under it has either become weak or needs tweaking.

I somewhat agree with mdob and guru but will add what works on my CMM might not be best for you. Case in point...I get programs from one of our die building...
