yes. But that's the nature of light.
The flying dot can adjust it's exposure rate for each pass which is what allows it to scan shiny surfaces....

They will do an actual Cal at the service center when you send it in for your yearly calibration. Yes, the TKJ connection will make it repeatable but...

calibrating the scanner is a huge PITA.
the scanner itself is really nice but very fragile. Lucky you, the HPL works well on shiny/machined surfaces....

You could reformat all dimensions into strings and manually delete the leading "0" but that might be a huge PITA for this purpose.

This sounds like a model issue. If you change your workplane it won't have any effect because a cylinder is a 3D feature that does not rely on a workplane....
