    decades ago, we did with a Validator to make full-size sketches.

        Are they a bunch of move/points? I've made the probe move in a helix and was it cool! Really friggin slow though.

          No, it's a freeform scan...
          I calculated a sinusoid projected on a sphere, with Excel,create a text file and read it, then copy / paste with pattern 60°.
          The sphere is measured with a classical tip, the pencil is calibrated on the sphere, and the scan goes on...
          So fun, really !
