Star probe and CM-Ve

I have 2 questions about CMM-Ve calibration, I'd like someone explain to me...
Why the star probe for angle calibration is the same for CMM-V and CMM-ve while the 2 cameras haven't the same size ?
Why the calibration is not executed on a sphere ?

For the second question, I wrote a prog that measure a sphere with the CMMv in different angles positions, but I can't write offsets automatically in probe config...

Focus calibration sets the offset based on the ring gage surface when probed and measured using focus
Star probe just dictates the orthogonality of the probe.
