Is this a new install or are you using the arm has worked before? We're running Version 3.7 dated 11/16/05 on a Platinum Faro arm with a USB connection. When setting up PCDMIS on a Faro arm there is number of things that cause it to not communicate. When installing PCDMIS for the first time you have to make sure that you have the correct Faro drivers, and when using a Platinum arm you have to call up the PCDMIS settings editor and tell it you are using a Platinum arm.
going to try a fresh new install with the faro drivers installed
because when I opened the settings editor it did not even show the option for faro arm
I'd recommend you go to MR3, we had problems with MR1. If you uninstall PCDMIS and start with a fresh install:
1. Start with USB to Faro unplugged
2. Install PCDMIS
3. Install Faro driver (we had v5.0)
4. reboot
5. Plug USB back in
6. Try to start PCDMIS, it probally won't let you in
7. Close PCDMIS, go into setting editor and under the Faro interface make
sure for Platinum arm it's marked as True
I've found sometimes I've had to reboot a couple times to get everything working correctly.
Greetings for sooth america ! I have 2 arms (faro platinum and romer), and we have PCDMIS function actually with romer arm, but we want conect the faro with pcdimis, can you help me with that ? where we can download the faro platinum drivers ?
Hello everyone,
I have a pc-dmis dongle that is good up to version 2009 mr1. I am trying to connect our Faro Titanium arm up to use with pc-dmis. I am tired of the limitations we have with Cam2. We have never tried running pc-dmis with the faro arm. I loaded the FaroUSBDrivers_V5.4.02 that I downloaded from the wilcoxassoc site. I then tried to start pc-dmis and I got an error saying it could not initialize machine. I then went into the pc-dmis settings editor. The only reference I found in the editor was User_Faro_Interface. The only thing under that was Last_CalError. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do to get pc-dmis to recognize the faro arm? Thanks for any help you may have!
Jeff

You need a dongle that is programmed for the Faro. Each and every dongle is programmed for a specific controller type.

Dumb question but we have the new version of pcdmis 2020 r2 cad++ on our cmm, we use a different software for the faro arm which can't do certain alignments...
