  • Default "New" Program

This may sound like a n00b question, but is there a way to set what lines show up at the beginning of a program when you start a new program. I have worked at a number of shops and they are all different, so it stands to reason that it must be able to be set somewhere. I do NOT want a default program that I open then "Save As". Thanks in advance.

The system parameters etc? They can be set using the Default button in the setup and/or parameters.

Will that put code into the program every time?

I also want to add some comment lines to every program, but if this is not a template type thing I think I am SOL.

I used to use MeasureMax and it had a template program that it used when you clicked on the new program button.
Alas, I think that I will just have to get in the habit of copying and pasting the comments.

I have a master Template program I use whenever I start a new program.
            Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

You can only default system parameters. If you want comments you'll have to use a new program template.

On the Custom Script Repository, there's a VB scripting example I created a while back that runs within excel. Based on what you fill out, it automatically populates the new part program with tracefields. I imagine you could use this as an example of how to work up something similar for your needs.

If you put in a master program what ever you want.
                    You can save it.
                    open it.
save as the program name you want.
then write your program and save.
Your master program will still be there for the next program.
There might be another way. I will need to check. but for now it is one way.

Good idea, but I already said I do not want to do that.

                            works with basic-script

my way of an Default Program:

                            - originally i created a program the way i liked it
                            - then i exported it in basic-format (.bas)
                            - that .bas-file i altered with an editor (deleted the first commands)
                            - create an icon on the toolbar for executing that basic script

so for each new job i create a new program in PCDMIS,
put the cursor at the end of the code and hit the toolbar-button
for the basic-script, so the program gets populated with the
                            necessary code.

                            See the attached sample-script.
