  • Help with " Beep " VB script

    I experiment with VB script by insert the beep script to a program:

    CS1 =SCRIPT/FILENAME= C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\MY DOCUMENTS\BEEPTEST.BAS
    FUNCTION/Main,SHOW=YES,,
    STARTSCRIPT/
    ENDSCRIPT/

    everytime the program run to the above command line , it will show an error message:

    Error executing basic script!
    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\MY DOCUMENTS\BEEPTEST.BAS:MAIN

    the code of BEEPTEST.BAS is:
    Sub Main()
    Beep
    End Sub

    My question is the cause come from my computer setting or from the script?

    I run a B&S Excel 12-20-10, PCDMIS CAD++, V4.2-MR1, the computer O/S is Window XP Pro

    Thanks for your helps

    Try it in a much shorter, cleaner path without spaces, eg. C:\basfiles\beeptest.bas

    Also, in winxp, there is no "my documents" folder directly under "documents and settings" - double-check that, too

      Hi cmmguy,
      This is my new script path which is shorter:
      CS1 =SCRIPT/FILENAME= C:\SCRIPT2.BAS
      FUNCTION/Main,SHOW=YES,,
      STARTSCRIPT/
      ENDSCRIPT/
      and it still have the same error message:
      Error executing basic script

        I can execute it. Does your user privs allow executing scripts?
        What happens if you edit it (F9), and then press the Run button (the icon to the right of the hammer). Does your anti-virus stop it from executing?

          Yeah, it worked for me too... Sometimes anti-virus software will also block the running of .bas, .vbs, etc... files.

              Thank you Jan d., SA Barber, cmmguy
              Per instruction from the above link, I open Setting Editor and change Script setting from 1 to zero and problem gone; I think I learn more here than read ton of manual
