I just recieved 4.0 in the mail.
I have not dared to install it yet.
any info or warnings out there.
    I am currently running 3.7 MR2
when it is installed it will be used offline for buggy checks.

    Thanks

Wait until 4.1 is released. I have farted around with 4.0 and it stinkith. I have not used it to run a program through for any valid data type stuff because there are numerous issues that need to be resolved. Look at previous posts re:4.0 .

      4.0

I will use 4.0 to manipulate a cad model. But I still program 3.7 mr3. Mr3 has less problems with bugs than mr2. 4.0 is very memory hungry and makes my cmm run very sllloooow.

I have 3.7MR1 and installed MR3 and the machine lost all my settings. For example: I had to press the auto button each time before it went to measure a part. Is this normal for MR3?
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

            re

We have been slowly testing out 4.0 on previous programmed 3.2 & 3.5mr2 version programs. We haven't encountered any problems except for one program, an 'all_tip_test" it crashed into the sphere after just a few wrist rotations(?) We were swamped and had to continue on without investigating why, the other CMM was running the same program with no errors which they both have ran for years. This was our only incident though. We check about 1300 different parts that have between 10-150 holes and bores in them and a few tip changes too, but have only ran about 20 of those programs. So far thumbs up.

I have not tried any programming but once, had many bugs(4) but I'm impatient and hate to wait. it was my first time on it and things just didn't click as fast as, I guess, I wanted them to. (crtl + s often ). Thumbs down so far.

Will more memory help or is this a pcdmis issue?

              ?

I guess I don't understand your question about the "auto button" But your custom tool bar settings can be saved. I have both mr3 and 4.0 on my machine and offline seat. And have had the best luck with mr3. Do you mean you have to hit the button for each point?

V4.0 requires much more computer horsepower, I have a dell 4700 pent 4 3.4 g processer 1 gig ram radeon x 300 card and this runs about 3 times slower with 4.0 than 3.7mr3

Hey! I can finally answer a question!

Yes, it's "Normal" to have to hit the Auto button in 3.7 MR3 after a tip angle change - A real pain. We've got a manual head and I keep forgetting to press the button - I walk away - come back and the thing hasn't moved...

They removed that "feature" in v4.0 though.
