  • Probe rotation

I have aligned a part with probe position A0B0. After aligning I rotate the probe to A90B(anything). Upon rotating the probe my alignment is not correct (the Z translation in particular is way off). Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug (version 3.2063)? And if this a bug is there a work around?

Are you rotating it with the HCU or with the drop down in PCDMIS? If you rotate it manually (with the HCU or manually if it is a MIP) and do not use the drop down to specify the rotation in your program PCDMIS will think you are still A0B0.

Sorry I read this wrong. It says Probe Rotation problem. I thought it said Probation problem. Never mind .

What were you going to tell him Paul? Drink lots of water? Put hair in the sample?

Stupid question.... Is the fact that the probe tip is in a different location throwing you off -like the DRO is different after the index??

            Hi CGoode,
Double check and make sure when you command it to make a probe rotation, it is actually putting the command in the program. Sometimes in that version it would ignore the command for me.

Two simple solutions (things I have overlooked more than a few times):
              1) Be sure that your probe is built correctly.
              2) If you are putting in rotations from the drop down menu, be sure it is showing up in your edit window - if not, manually change the angles in the edit window.

Yes I am using the drop down menu for the probe change. Yes it is placing the change in the edit window. Yes it is a MIP probe.

CMM guy you are correct it is acting as if I never rotated the tip even though the edit window shows the correct tip angle.

You've got me stumped. I suppose if you don't get an answer you could try and delete the .prb file and rebuild it. not sure that will work this is a problem I've never had before.
