When PC-Dmis is calculating MMC why is it calculating from the top of the tolerance. I though that it should be applied from the 9.7 not the high limit of 10. Please see attachment. Am I missing something??????

That does not look right should'nt it calculate from 9.6 because of your -.100 tol? It looks by the way it's doing it the smaller your hole the more mmc you will have?I have never had it reverse on me.

Is the diameter an ID feature or an OD feature? The calculation is looking at it as if it were an OD.

J Temmen is correct is this a o.d.? If it is not supposed to be, did you constructa circle from a cone and plane? Sometimes the check box for o.d. is checked instead of i.d., just a thought.

Am I thinking wrong?....MMC would be the smallest hole, the maximum ammount of material. Follow me?

You are correct, think of MMC as the HEAVIEST part, smallest I.D., largest O.D. and longest length. This means it would calculate from nominal + or - any tolerance.

Or you could think of MMC as Maximum Material Condition or the condition in which you have the maximum amount of material.

                  MMC

The calculations are for an outside diameter and not an inside diameter. When you created your diameter from the create circle option, you had the button on "out" and not "in". If you change that , then you will get the good amount of bonus.

With MMC, the larger the hole (inside dia.) the more bonus.

                    mmc-fixed

Thanks everyone.....when I created the circles at the intersection of a plane and cone...it was creating them as and od not an id....I knew that it had to be something stupid.

Not stupid, just not as yet known, you'll never forget that one. Not stupid, knowledge gained.
