    Very helpul! especially for sheet metal. The gurus can explain better.

    Jus to give you a quick example, imagine a metal chassis with a 90 deg. formed wall and several holes on it.
    You measure a plane first and reference it as RMEAS for the holes.
    The hole locations will be adjusted on the plane even if the 90 deg. varies.

      Whatever the deviation is of the feature you choose for relative measure, it will offset the target hit by that much in that direction.

      Example, hole measure, nom x 1000 y 500, act x 1000.80 y 501.0 : it will adjust your target for the next measurement to drive (not change any nominals) an addtional 0.8 X and 1.0 Y respectively. If you have a bolt pattern of holes, thats twisted or really out of wack, you could find hole on the first hole, then use relative measure on the rest. This is only the tip of the iceburg, there are many other uses and examples, but the idea is here.
