Doesn't matter to me. I guess for those who do use it, it would be good to have as an option vs. not at all.

have you played with 4.0 and the templates yet???

Yeah, I did, but as I said earlier, The stock reports mess up when comments are introduced. So, until that is fixed I am sticking with 3.7MR3. I didn't mind the report and label template stuff, though it did seem to get bunged up after messing around too much with numerous items. Just scratched the surface with regards to working witht the templates, but didn't seem too bad. Just user intensive.

I don't know how to use it. I have heard about it but don't know anything about it. I might play with it if I knew what I was doing.

I only say yes because it has been absolutely great for set up reports. I know where B&S was going with it and they were getting into some big territory. They were trying to emulate Visual Basic with it and that is an industry of its own. Like Datapage it has not been touched or improved upon in ages and I am sure that the fact that it will never hold a candle to the competition is why they are dumping it (why waste the resources). I will miss it but I have been working on a way around it for a little while now any way so my migration away from it has already begun.

            Craiger,
Can you let me in on what you have been working on? I know you are quite a crafty fella so it is very intriguing to me.

I have designed a front end with VB.net. I put all of my programs in a folder that the application checks and then populates a drop down with all of the program names. I have another forlder with set up instructions saved to text files and set up pictures as .jpgs (you can use as many .jpgs as you want). When the operator picks a part number (program name without the .prg extension) it automatically displays the set up instructions and picture. These are displayed on a tab control, the other tab is the CMM results. After the CMM program executes the results are printed to an .rtf file in the PCDMISW directory. I grab the .rtf and display the CMM report on the results tab. I am willing to share. If you have VB.net I'll share the source code. If you want an MSI I'll give you that but I need to modify so it does not show my company logo. I am working on another one right now that is for some machines we are offsetting with the CMM. It is not done yet. Te one that is practically done is pretty much de bugged and heavily documented. I just need to get the dirrectories all set with instructions and pictures before I launch it.

While we are at it I would like to see the old style reporting put back in. I don't understand the logic of totally changing things. The down time in learning a new system is a strain on all of us. I know they put a lot of work in the new reporting system. The changes should have been an addition or enhancement not a replacement.
Right now I am dead in the water with 4.0 untill I can figure out how to output my measurements. Bites because a Wrote a program and had to rewrite it in 3.7 to get my data out.

I worked with 4.0 at a user group meeting and it has the old style reporting option. You have to check a box to make that happen that is it.

                      Craiger,

I would love the vb.net code. I am getting my programming degree in 2 days. I had VB intro and adv. last summer. I struggled through some of the advance class, but got through it. I like looking at code so I can learn. I have been trying to write some vb code to do something like what you did. I have the interface already, I just could get the rest to work right. It would be greatly appreciated.
oh, by the way I don't use hyper-report either.

                      Thanks

                        Are they?

Is the hyper-reporting to be removed from Version 4?
Such a useful tool that visually simplifies results that are difficult for unknowing engineers. What are they replacing it with?

I never used it. I didn't see a good reason to take the time to set it up for prototype part runs.

Why in the h$$$ did they take it away. When it came out they touted it as the cat's meow. I do use it and until the put it back I don't plan on updating my SMA. Every program that I have (1500 plus) uses hyper reporting. I'm told that in 4.0 that it will work with my current programs but that I won't be able to create a new program with it. That Su???. If it will work with my current programs then it should not take very much to put it back as a mr release. And as we all know there will be some.
