  • Program that recalls ext align will not mirror

I have a program the recalls an external alignment from a fixture alignment program. I mirrored the fixture alignment program with no problem. The part program will not mirror correctly. the CAD and features will not line up, the tip angle are not correct. Any ideas?

    Mirroring external alignment program

What version aere you running. I run 3.5 MR2 and I mirrored a program that recalls an external alignment and it seems to work just fine. Is the external alignment recall the 1st thing in the program? Are you sure you mirrored about the correct axis in both your programs. I know you need to check all your tip angles because they usually get screwed up even if you mirror a relatively easy part. Another oddity is that sometimes the model (if you have one) gets screwed up bad. (deleted or added surfaces, or it somehow turns itself inside out?) Ensure your rotating about the correct axis.

John Kingston - can you help this guy out? It has never been RESOLVED.

I never have a need for mirroring programs. But I do use a mirror to see how I take hits on the bottom of some parts. Will that work?
When in doubt, post code. A second set of eyes might see something you missed.

            OK, first of all:

            1) I never mirror alignments, I will make a new alignment program
            2) When you mirrored the alignment program, did you give it a NEW save-file-name? This is very much needed
            3) After changing the save-file-name in the mirrored alignment program, did you change the ext-recall in the check program?

As I said, I will NOT mirror an alignment, I will make a new one. I will mirror the check program, BUT, I will not run it. After I make the new alignment program, I save the alignment, with it's own unique name. I will then make a NEW program, recall the NEW ext-alignment file, THEN I will copy EVERYTHING after the ext-recall (but NOT inclucing it!) and paste it in the new check program.

And NO, the tips will only ever be correctly mirrored in 1 case and one only:

IF the A angle mirrors about the same axis as the program needs to be mirror as it sits on the machine. For automotive, the Y axis is the mirror. My head mirrors about the machine X axis, so unless I have the Y cad axis running in the X direction of my machine, the tips will NOT mirror correctly. I will have to go and change them all by hand.

And you guys thought I was a sucker. Hoedeman's Fan Club is losing members fast.

That's fine. I don't NEED a fan club, I have a fan on the shelf next to the PC that blows on me so YOU DON'T HAVE TO BLOW ME!
