  • Create vector point offset from another point along it's vector

I have a fixture to inspect that checks profile of a stamped part. The profile of the fixture is offset from the nominal by 3mm so that a go/no-go feeler can be used to check profile. I do not have CAD data for the fixture, but I do for the part. What I would like to do is import the CAD, create vector points, offset them by 3mm along the vector and reverse the vector. this will create nominal points to check the fixture to. Is this possible? 3.5mr2

theoretical thickness and flip your vector

Correct. You must use part data to check a Fixture. Because the fixture could have been designed wrong, and you would just be verifing that they made it correctly to bad cad.

Do just like you said. use the 3mm material thickness and flip vectors.
