  • Iges Import and Alignment ?'s

    good afternoon....i'm doing my first bit of offline programming and of course i'm hitting my share of snags. here goes number 1

    is there any way to adjust the Axis X,Y and Z to the direction i want to to be before i begin programming? for example...the Z arrow is pointing where my Y axis is and so on and so forth. see my attachment for details.

    thanks

    In the Operation - Graphics Display Window - You can use the Transform tool to change the alignment to what you need. Make sure you check the "Create new coordinate" box.

        Do you have CAD++?

            If it's not there then probably not available to v3.7 Unless you have it grayed out?

                Then your gonna have to use some kind of CAD software to change it or have your engineers do it for you.

                  Or, align it as is and then "rotate" the alignment such that the axis' point where you want them.

                  All you have to do is your alignment,and then make another alignment in which you do 90 degree or 180 degree rotations until your axis are in the proper axis' that match your set up.

                      Also, you can change your probe setup so that it looks coorrect to you first alignment. Go to F5 I think it is and locate the PART/MACHINE tab and set up the axis' the way you have the part set up. Do this at the beginning.

                        Yes, that how you have to do it.

                          ok i've done that...changed the boxes. X+ now is Z- and such. now when i click apply and ok the arrows don't change on my diagram. i would imagine they should.

                            No they won't. What you are doing is put the part the way you would see it on the CMM. What that only does is make it so the probe is in the correct to math on the machine and now you can program it and know what probe angles to use.
