  • This might make sense to someone

I was shown on an older version of PC-Dims (3.2) a way of highlighting a CAD model so you could auto feature multiple holes, slot, etc.. in one go. The only downside was it would move from feature to feature as the designer had drawn it.

It goes without saying I’ve now forgot or did I just dream it. If anyone knows how this was done or had the same dream and remembers, It could save me a lot of time.

Not a dream it can be done. I am just not sure how to do it now. The only drawback I found when doing this was it seemed to redo holes a bunch of times. ie: minor dia, major dia, contersink minor dia, and major dia. I am sure someone either uses this or knows how

While in auto feature circle, box select the circles you want to measure by clicking and holding the right mouse button and dragging it from top left to bottom right

I used to do it for vector points from imported XYZ points.
When V3.7 came along, I found it was broke.
I keep V3.5 MR2 around for just such an occasion.
B & S had informed me it would be fixed in later versions (perhaps 4.0)

When I have used this feature it was with both surface and curve geo. I had DMIS set to curve mode this my be your problem I think this only works if you have curve geo to work with. If you do I measure one circle first the normal way with clear plane active then you can either box select all at once or you can hold down the shift key and box select them one at a time. A cad select box should pop up and tell you how many features you have selected to measure and also how to measure I use the last used check box and then hit create. The measure order is all funky but if should work.

This will only work with curve features so make sure you're in curve mode. Hold and drag a window with the left mouse button arund the model. PCDMIS will extract all the features that can be used with the type of auto-feature selected. Be careful if you allow pcdmis to find vectors, they will sometimes be reversed. HTH!

New problem, how do I activate Curve Mode? The icon on my toolbar is greyed out. Tried the help file, (complete waste of time)

I'm currently using an IGES model converted from ProE.

If the Curve button mode is ghosted it means you only have wire frame cad data.
