  • Menu bar mods.

    OK. Quality of life issues.

I want to remove the Close and Save items from the File menu bar.
I have done this before (following the instructions in Help) but it's not working now.
I can remove them, but after restarting PCDMIS ... they're back.
This follows several reinstallations and finally a clean installation on a new computer.
Theoretically all the necessary .bat files etc. were backed up and then used in this process.
Everthing (?) else is working for the last week.

As long as I don't use it, it works fine.

I'm out the door and headed home so I'll check in tomorrow.

Did you save your WINDOW LAYOUT, then recall it then SAVE then close?

I assume you're talking about the icons in the Window Layouts toolbar.
        Yep. Tried it.
        Nope. Didn't work.

I was thinking of messing with the dat files in the user directory, when I have time.
Well for the first time in months the incoming rack is empty, so tonights the night?

This worked before but I'm still afraid to mess around a break something else.
        Backup, backup.

Sounds like you didn't click the "Default" button then "Apply".
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

            PCDMIS Help
To remove a menu item from the menu bar altogether:

With the Customize dialog box open and the Menu tab selected, navigate to the menu item you want to remove on PC-DMIS's actual menu bar (not the tree view menu list in the Menu tab).

            Select the desired menu item.

Drag it off of the menu bar area.

Release the mouse button, and the menu item is removed from the menu.

Click OK to accept your changes and close the Customize dialog box.
            Doesn't work.

Actually I've run out of time on this problem.
            So ... consider it RESOLVED!

Hey, this sounds similar to the problem Matt and I were talking about yesterday. I was able to remove stuff from the drop down menus but not from toolbars.

Matt said he was able to open a previous version, edit the toolbars, save the windows layout. Then, he moved that windows layout to the username folder for the current version.
