Who has the best prices for probe tips? I need some 1mm x 30mm ruby ball probes and I don't want to pay $100/ea. from some of the local sources.

Why not just get the 1x10's and add extensions, that way, when you bust your balls, you are only replacing a small portion of your build up and not the entire length?

You might try MSC industrial supply. They carry some Renishaw probes as well as some other brand. I don't think you will find them for much less though.

What a long, strange trip it's been.

If you must use 1 by 30 tips go with a carbide shaft for deflection purposes. Also use a light force module. Be careful using 1 by 30!! I have had 1 by 30 read dead on to a wring gage but the out of round condition was .001 I believe this was deflection. I did not have a carbide tip nor a light force module!! Q mark makes em!! 2x 30 read dead on size and form -Thicker shaft this is how I came to my conclusion.
