  • CMM Calibration

Yep, Monday was the day the tech came in to do my machine. Original machine specs are +/-0.0007" for both accuracy and repeatability. Here are the results:

Checked linear every 4" in all axis, deviations in tenths (1=0.0001")
    X: 0,-1,-1,-1,-2,-1,0,1,1,-2,-1
    Y: 0,-1,0,-1,-1,-2,0,-1,-1,0,1,1,2,1,2,2
    Z: 0,-1,-1,0,1,-1,-2,-3,-2,-1,-3

Maximum deviation = 0.0003" from nominal

Squareness over 27.5" on a solid gage
    XY 0.0001"
    XZ 0.0002"
    YZ 0.0002"

Repeatability in X-, X+, Y-, Y+, Z-: variation of 0.0001" on repeated touch, all axis.

Then, after doing the calibration the correct way, they checked the machine using the ball-bar with these results at 20 positions on the table (deviations from calibrated lenth of ball-bar, NOT comparisions of opposite angle setups):

    +0.0000
    -0.0002
    +0.0001
    -0.0004
    +0.0001
    -0.0003
    -0.0002
    +0.0001
    -0.0004
    -0.0004
    +0.0001
    -0.0003
    +0.0001
    -0.0004
    +0.0001
    -0.0002
    -0.0003
    +0.0001
    -0.0004
    -0.0003

Biggest adjustment made by the tech: 0.0004" of squareness in the YZ plane over the 27.5" gage.

So! My machine is good and ready, how about yours?

If they are that interested, they can see 'me' and 'my' girls on the profile page. Only 3 are left from the original picture, but they are there.

A BUCKEYE is nothing more than a "hairless nut", and I guess you prove that right to the limit, eh John?

Did you ever see a buckeye with its outer shell? Pointy things sticking off the whole O.D. We can be very "Pricky".

ROFLMAO. We used to do that too. Apples and crab-apples also. Even would have snowball fights with buckeyes in the snowballs. Leave the little prickery things sticking out.

Nowadays kids use Nerfs and stuff. Sissies!
