Contract Programming and Inspection

What is the going rate for contract programming and inspection per hour around the midwest? I am trying to come up with a cost justification for some extra capacity here.

I don't think that $50/hr would even pay for a contract prgrammer let alone machine time. I thought that the going rate was at least twice that.

90 to 150 depending on backlog, customer attitude...

most good programmers would quote it by the job and not the hour anyway, unless it is onsite and no defined job.

Usually we qouted at $65 an hour for contract inspection.
Contract programming is done per job.
On site programming is $125 an hour.

THat is exactly what I was going to say $55 / hr because we needed some offshift work done a while back and that was the going rate.

Oh wait. You are buying PLATE time for that?? WOW!!! that is cheap!! I was talking about a contract CMM Guy coming in to our facility and running our parts on our machine.

In the Detroit area the going rate is between $55 and $75 per hour for contract CMM inspection. Most of the places have a $200 minimum. If a multiple piece program needs to be written, we are charged for the time to write the program, then a price per part.
