    I am running a pre-existing program for one of our parts. The problem I am having (this time) is after I am prompted to take my manual measurments, and the machine goes into DCC mode, it doesn;t come down far enough on the part and eventually faults out. I tried to manually move the probe head in "-Z" axis but it then gives me an "illegal move" alarm. I have posted the program so that you can get a visual. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    Be sure that the probe is built as shown and that your alignment points are as indicated on the cad model. These are usually the simple, easy and most overlooked areas.

      I also would check the "prehit" and "check" distances

      I have these three lines in the beginning of each of my programs so that I can easily make changes to them

      Prehit / 0.05
      Retract / 0.05
      Check / 0.1,1

        Another thing to check is CHECK DISTANCE. A lot of programmers (some who have sent me programs) use this like it is some kind of drug. A value to low will keep it from making contact with a surface that is off more than the check distance value.

        For example, if the check distance is set to 2mm and the surface is off 3mm, it will not make contact with the part.

          If your executing a marked set make sure all the features are marked.

          And fix that manual alignment...Whats with dat_j being y&z origin? Also your vectors need a good housecleaning....It would probably be quicker to rewrite this than troubleshoot it..
