  • Need help with costum disk probe

    I need to create a custom disk probe that is 157.48 mm long 22.86 mm dia disk, the disk is 1.143mm thick and the shank is 7.87 dia. This how far I could get on my own.

    I don't know how the thickness of the disk defined in here, or the shank dia either. See sketch for the probe config.

    Nobody use disk probes? Can someone post there disk probe config. Maybe I can learn from there.

      BANDY,

      Sorry couldn't answer until now. I hope this will help. By the way, the disk that you are going to create; it should be two separate items, the disk and then the shaft.

        Yes I got that help file too. I wish someone could give me a sample of a disk probe with some explanation. Thanks for the reply.

          Why would shank diameter matter? You aren't taking hits with the shank are you?

          As far as the thickness, you can control where the probe calibrates using start and end angles when you go to calibrate it. Is there another reason why the thickness would matter?

          Is this disk going to be a thin slice of a sphere or just a very wide, flat cylinder?

            What Goodluck said. Wasn't really reading the post I guess. Just use 100° and 80° as your start and end angles, that's how I do it.
