  • Tip Calibration StDev

Hey Guys hope someone can help me out here.

I need a Generic Specification for Tip Calibration:

I was out of the office for the past couple of days and someone else was running my machine. During that time they called me up complaining that they couldnt get any of the tips to calibrate.

So now that Im back. Ive done the usual checks, but had to increased the probe alarm limit to force it to pass. Probably not the right thing to do as Ive not had this problem before unless something was actually bent, broken or dirty, but nothing is passing.

Anyway Im getting StDev results of .012 to .014mm, and PrRdv deviation of .004 to .007mm from nominal. I think this is high for such a relatively short tip.

    Probe build is as follows:
    SP600M
    Convert9mm_to_M3Thrd
    Convert_to_m2thrd
    Exten20mm
    Tip4by20mm

This is a pretty standard probe build which I use all the time. So Im curious what the standard alarm limits should be for the StDev and Probe Radius.

    Thanks again.

Sounds like I got a problem then.

Anyone know the recommended Air Pressure?

My machine's air gage currently reads at 0.5 Mpa. Also I can hear air movement, but I cant feel any coming out under the air bearing on the open side of the machine. Getting suspicious that I got dust up one or more of my holes.

Well, don't know about YOUR machine, but I need a minimum of 70 PSI on mine.

Also, just to make sure it didn't get missed, have you cleaned off the tip and the calibration sphere? Did you try changing tips in case the one you are using is chipped?

            re

First of all , airpressure is fine for a SciroccoNT machine.

If you want to be sure for airflowing , you may use alcohol , if you can see blobs , you may say OK. ( or you may inject alcohol inside the pipes from the main entrance , near the e.valve)

For the tip calibration , I suggest to use 8by50 , 3 levels and 21 pnts and reduce the speed. After the calibration , use "qualification check". (you may use some oil -ie wd40- over the calibration sphere)

My first thought was maybe you have some damage to the calibration sphere.
              Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

                MRCOMMENT,

Using an SP600 in the CNC right? Try cleaning the connection between the cap and the body of the SP600 and requal.

Most of the time when my SP600 gives OOT SD it is because of dirt between the connections. I use rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

                Have a good weekend.
