  • Faro Arm and PC-DMIS

Yea, I know, this is the wrong section

Our production group recently purchased a Faro Arm and is having trouble getting anything done.

Any of you have experience with PCD and Faro?

    How spendy is PCD Portable?
    Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

Whut Kass said, The fastest interface is verisurf though. I suspect that 4.2 may interface a lot better. Whats the problem?

Well, that would be a long story.
To shorten it up... they are machinists, not inspectors, or programmers.
Also, I guess they have been told that they now need to buy another piece of software to run the CAD models thru (Catia or UG) to get usable IGES or STEP files that the Faro software can read.
I think there are some politics involved in keeping me away from it.
I am curious if PCD-Portable is as spendy as a regular seat of PCD. My guess is that there will be no real difference.

Machinest not inspectors, who do you think inspects that part first. Faro is a tool just for that it does not have the accuracy at this time to replace the CMM. That is why it doesn't belong in this section and there is a differnt section for it. Portable arms Laser trackers serve a different purpose. They are usefull for setting up tooling doing quick checks. Machinest, Toolmakers, Die Makers were the original Inspectors they made the parts dies tools that we inspect. Besides I evolved from the trade. Yes pcdemis will run on faro romers with very little learning curve for someone who already runs a cmm. Okay enough said now you can all jump on me!_Kass
