  • Printing to RTF locks me up

I have a program that every time I try to print to an RTF it locks up my PC . Only way to get out is to physically shut the PC and then re-boot. I have checked my path, filenames and all looks good.

I can print to PDF but engineer wants an RTF.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

I guess the engineer is going to get a pdf then. He/she probably wants a rtf so he/she can change the numbers to good.

I will try this, grab another program that you know has no problems printing RTF.
Do save as xxxx.prg. Delete everything but the probe file.
copy and paste the rest from the corrupted program.

Which method of printing are you using?

From the file menu or a print command in the program?

Do you have it set up to auto index the file name?

        Prompt for the file name?

Are you trying to save to a network drive? If so, try changing your path to somewhere on the computer's hard drive and see if that makes a difference.

Not sure what you're asking. I am using the standard print method, when program is done running it is trying to print the RTF just like it would print the results to a paper printer

          YES

          NO

          Just to the hard drive

Other programs work just fine. I don't want to save as, delete all and copy from another file unless I have to as this is a rather larger program with graphics and I always have problems with the program screwing up afterwards.

The dimensions that are showing out are out by tenths. We can hard check this on the surface plate and be in spec by tenths.

Hmm, I would try having it prompt for a file name. Maybe it is in the fault is in the auto index. Is your program set to read-only?

My first question (what method) was whether you had set it up to print through the file menu or if you had inserted a print command in the program (insert - report command - print command).

One more thing you might try is restoring the program from your backup copy. Maybe something isn't quite right in the program but the backup may be unaffected.

If you are not worried about tenths, change your dimensioning to report only 3 decimal places in the setup and give your engineer the .pdf files

This is the original program. Written offline and then out to the CMM.

                  Aggravating to say the least!!

Do you have your Company LOGO printing in the header? The header files become HUGE if you have a picture (BMP) logo file. Turn it off and see if you don't unlock. Logo BMP files can take literally several minutes to save to a drive. RTF files and BMPs or any picture file for that matter are a terrible mix. Add the header later in Word if you have to have it.

How do I turn off the BMP? I also have several graphical analysis in the file for printing. The BMP is probably pretty small compared to the analsis.

Turn off the BMP be editing the LOGO.DAT and remove the line the references the BMP file.

                        The analysis should be fine.

Under printers I have a PC-DMIS 250 Converter. Does anyone else have this? I believe this has something to do with printing to files.

NOPE, the only thing I have listed in my printers that has PCDMIS in the name is PC-DMIS PDF Converter. I don't use it, I use CutePDF Writer.

The 250 converter is correct for v4x versions.
Send the files (program & anything else needed to load/execute the program) to B&S. Do you have the DoNotUseAmyuniRTF flag set to any value other than 0?
