  • Losing Probe Files in 4.2?

Okay, twice in the last couple of weeks I start up my machine and it tells me if I want to update to my lastest version on my probe file on start up. First time I clicked on yes, and when I went into the program the Probe setup was gone, nothing built and all angles gone. This time I click on NO and I go into program and the same thing, everything gone. Now is this a 4.2 thing? Or is some screwing around with my machine? Both times I have evidence someone has been in here?

    Check your scroll lock.

No really, check wheer DMIS is looking for your probes. EDIT>PREFERENCES>SET SEARCH PATH. Maybe its' not looking in the right spot.

There was no path. Created one, saved it and will see what happens. Thanks

I've seen this sort of thing with PATHS and other various defaults in V3.7mr3 nad older versions. You open a program that someone, somewhere used something else for a path or any other default, and for some [email protected] reason, Pcdmis will then default to THOSE for your path and defaults, EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER TOLD IT TO USE THEM AS defaults. Just one more lovely 'enhancement' from the peeple at Wilcox. I mean, YOUR defaults should NOT EVER change unless YOU tell it to use a new bunch of, lets say, F5 setup options as default, YOURS should be stored someplce (as DEFAULTS) but it will change YOUR defaults (you know, YOU had to click on the DEFAUTLS button to make them YOUR defaults) to what is in a program that you CLOSE (or save, heck, maybe even QUIT!) after you are done with it, ALL WITHOUT YOU clicking on teh DEFAULT buttons. Sweet! (in Cartmans voice)

                First, see my signature.

Second, if someone (you, operator, IT) went in and changed the name or location of where pc-dmis resides, all your search paths would need to be changed as well. Perhaps someone did this and updated the shortcuts to pc-dmis but not the search paths. I did that once (renamed the folder) and it took me the better part of a day to figure out wtf happened and why all my probes were gone.

Pls forgive the reptillian application engineers, they got a nice bug that wipes out your toolbars.

Do you have a copy of your toolbar layout? You probably already know this. But just in case copy and rename your toolbar .DAT file to restore-if all layouts are completely gone -you cant see icon or grayed. IS 4.2 the same?
