4.2 avoidance move issues

I am trying to work in 4.2 (7-2-07) and am having some issues, 2, with auto move (avoidance move) in auto feature circle

1) When trying to probe a hole, the cmm is moving to a point about 8 inches above the feature prior to and after probing the feature.
If I turn off the avoidance move there is no issue.

2) When trying to probe an outside diameter using the avoidance move the distance above the feature is correct, but it drives from this point in a straight line 3D (moving over and down at the same time) to the first probing point thus hitting the part instead of avoiding contact as it should. After completing the probing it finishes by correctly avoiding by going up and then over to the center position.

any help on this one?

1) I have tried changing the avoidance distance with no change in the actual movement

2) In 4.2 autofeature circle there is no cylinder length to be adjusted

this is a known issue according to tech support

has been addressed, but only fixed in the latest beta version so far

Same issues here with the 'missing avoidance move'.
Got the same answer from tech a while back when reporting it.

EDIT: Speaking of bugs, I posted in the 'doesn't save coordinates'-thread as well as this one, but I wonder if anyone else has this issue with the alignment information getting printed on the report if you use best-fit alignment in your program? I can get rid of it? It always gets printed in the programs that are using best-fit.

Hi Bob... Try this... Temporarily switch your autoCircle to a outside circle so you can see the "Height" parameter. Next, set that height parameter to 0. Now switch it back to an inside circle. Does that get you around the problem for now? Yes, indeed this is a known issue:

Man, if you don't want to use 4.2 I don't think you have to go to the extreme of moving. I'm sure there are lots of jobs in your area that would allow you to use 3.7mr3 if you want.

there was never a 7-27-07 version that I could find....but yesterday I did find a 8-6-07 version.
tested this morning and found that for inside circles it still does not work, but outside circles is now corrected.

next version maybe??????

Hi Bob-
Although this isn't my area anymore, I've done some investigation. The problem was indeed fixed by a developer, but then the change got accidentally overwritten by another developer. I've restored the original fix, sent emails, etc.
Because updating the usual location upsets the testing by the factories, I'm told that we can't update it right now. But, build/testing manager did create a build which is basically the 8/6/07 build, with this fix (re-)added. You can download it here.
