  • CMM problem?

Just fired up the CMM for the first time in a few days and can't seem to get the bloody thing to home. When it starts moving in the X axis it takes off in rapid movement, shuts down and gives an error message about X axis lag error.

    Time for the service call?

Be careful. I once had this problem (in "Z"). The encoder or scales were used up and the head crashed into the granite with small pieces of the probehead creating a shrapnel hazard.
        Lately, it occurs to me
What a long, strange trip it's been.

Checked air pressure, air cleanliness (two filters, both OK) and cleaned all scales with the results being the same. I think its time for B&S support.

What kind of machine is it? And does it give you an error #?
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

The worse that can happen is your company is out a few ( the B&S lingo for an Arm and a Leg) bucks. And when it comes to those phone lines they always have someone ready to take the cash

Just an update to let you know that it was an encoder on the X axis that died.
