  • creating auto cylinder in 4.2

is there any quick formula to use for id and od cylinders in 4.2 ? It seems to be more complex to enter the data needed and confusing also. starting depth , ending depth , length . In 4.1 I had no problem but in 4.2 it seems to have a mind of its own. any input would be welcomed

    Hi Allen-
Everything is the same as V41, with the exception that we now have a "ending depth".
The ending depth was needed for situations where we had a "height hit" on the top of a stud... the problem was that if you gave it the exact height/length of the top of the stud, it would take the height hit without problems, but then you'd be shanking on your last row of hits. If you gave it a slightly smaller length to prevent that, then the height hit may shank instead. People use to get around this by having a large prehit. But, we had customers complain that this wasn't good enough, and so we added the ending depth. In your case, simply set the "Ending Depth" to 0 and things will work as they always have.
Other people found the terminology confusing as well. Because of that, we've changed "starting depth" back to simply "depth" and "ending depth" to "ending offset"... but we wern't able to get this into 4.2 due to resource/translation issues.
    Does this answer your question?
