  • Clear plane move

    I'm back.

    Finally got my hole measured at -.5 to the Z plane. Now trying to move to a .25 clear plane for the second of four -.5 holes.
    I put the cursor at the end of the operation, hit F10, and try to set a clear plane.

    I've tried about all the iterations I can think of and still the probe will not raise above -.3 before it moves to the next feature. This is a problem because there are ribs in the way.

    I've set the active plane at both Z plus and minus, put in values from 0 to -.3 to .25 and set values in the Z plus move through plane at .25. Hit apply and ok.

    Nothing changes. Can't figure what I'm doing wrong.

    Don't use the pass-through. It will give you nothing but trouble.

    1) If you are doing this with Auto Features (ctrl-F), you can do this by using the automove of the feature, if you are measuring 0.5 below the surface and want to go to 0.25 above, use an automove of 0.75.

      I think you will want to put the cursor right after your first hole then F10 and set the clearplane to .25, hit apply and hit ok.

      Or, do as Matt suggests

      Or, use movepoints

      Code:
      move/point,cir1.x,cir1.y,.25
      Will move you .25 inch above z=0 at the center of cir1 (assuming cir1 has a vector of 0,0,1

      That code may not be 100% correct but you get the idea.

      Oh, and if your other holes are also using find hole, you just need a move out of the current hole and then because of the find hole it will move to your prehit distance above the center of the next hole.

        What you are doing should work though. Make sure you check the check box Clearance Planes Active (ON). You should set to Z Plus and enter 0.3 and it should work.

            What it is supposed to do is make Pcdmis move 2 clearance planes, lets say the main plane is Z1200 nd the pass-through is X500. IT should move from it's current position to X500 (pass-through) then up to Z1200. At least, I think that is what it is supposed to do.

              Pass through

              Matt is correct,

              it will let you transition from checking holes with a a90b180 in the y- plane to checking holes in the x- plane with a90b90, with only a clearplane move.

                    No problem, the [code][/code] tags make it align like we are all used to seeing in PC-DMIS. I at least find it easier to look at since there is more definition between features and such.

                      Still can't get it to move to clearplane .25 above Z zero.
                      XY zero is in the center of this mostly symmetrical part.

                      After measuring the first hole at Z -.5, I manually raised the probe before executing the move to the second hole also located at -.5.
                      To get to the second hole I must pass from Z minus to Z plus clearplane and from Y minus to Y plus.
                      My entry looks like this between the two holes:

                      HIT/BASIC, --(hits)--

                        If you are going from the bottom of your part (-z) to the top of your part (+z) it is best to use movepoints to get from the bottom to the top. For side to side and "up and over" clearplanes aren't too hard to master.

                          You only want to move in the Z plus so try giving your pass through plane a value of 0.25.

                            this needs to be before the measured hit
                            in auto features move plane comes the line before the feature execution
                            in user created features the clearplane is 1st move inside before hits
                            in these you can also insert clearplanes in between hits or change a circular move to a clearplane if hit/retract is not sufficient such as an OD with projections on it
