  • Measured results and reported results different

    I'm measuring a small, interrupted surface sphere with good results. The THEO and ACTL vary by .0024 max. When I ask for Position on that same feature, without any steps between measuring and dimensioning the position of sphere, I get a max variation of 3.1043 and a reported position of 7.5252. Calculate same sphere using the ACTL results, position is .0055. See SPH1 in attached program (partial program, too long to post complete)

    PC-DMIS is a very dynamic software package with a LOT going on behind the scenes of the visible code. I see this sometimes if the theoretical values of the alignment features aren't correct, usually with older programs that were poorly/hastily written. For the past number of years I painstakingly make sure that ALL the theoretical locations and vectors are perfect. CAD helps, but if not I correct it by hand.

    Sometimes making a new position dimension will fix it. Sometimes making a new feature and then dimensioning it will fix it.

        I would try ASSIGN/V1=SQRT(DOT(SPH1.XYZ-SPH1.TXYZ,SPH1.XYZ-SPH1.TXYZ)) to check the deviation.
        In addition, you shoudn't use the same vector in circles for angle vector and surface vector...
