  • Xact Report Question

    This is my first time using Xact, and the circled doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone know how to make the data correlate?

    Your feature is a circle so you shouldn't be reporting X, Y, and Z deviation. You should only have two of the three. Also, check whether you are reporting in the Datum Reference Frame coordinate system or the Current Alignment coordinate system by entering the XactMeasure dialog window, navigating to the Advanced tab, and examining the selection in the Alignment drop-down in the bottom section of the window.

      I only have the Y and Z checkmarked, so I'm unsure why it is reporting the X. I have it reporting the DRF, like I want it to. The nominals are correct in the "summary" column, but I know for sure the measurement column is all completely wrong. I see it on a few features, but not all of them. They all looked fine when I programmed them offline, but after it was filled with actual data online, it looks like the above.

    There are a couple questions that I have because of the Deviation. First what do Datums A and B_C control? To find out you can check the Customized DRF box to see what they are controlling, as shown in POST #2 in this thread.

    Also is this Hole at some kind of angle? Sometimes with Xact when you go back in to Edit the Feature. I found that it becomes corrupt and even if a box is uncheck it reports it anyways, When going in to Edit the feature, Choose an additional feature, doesn't matter, uncheck your feature you wanted in the first place, re choose it, and uncheck the additional feature, then go to advanced tab and check the boxes you seek, sometimes, no let me rephrase that, always PC-DMIS gets stuck, and you have to go the extra mile to remove the glue.

      Randyawg Can you post the relevant sections of your code (alignment w/alignment features, considered feature, datum features)?

        A datum controls 3 degrees of freedom, and B-C controls 3 degrees. They were all checked. The hole is not on an angle. All position call outs are reporting x,y,z even though only y and z are ever check marked. Is it possible this is some bug since I did this offline and copied it over to our online?

        I'm unable to unselect and reselect the features right now because the CMM is currently in use, but hopefully I can find some time later in the day.

        Apparently the Code exceeds the amount of characters I can post, and somehow the text document of the code is too large (file size wise). I promise I only grabbed the pertinent code lol. Any ideas on how to upload it?

        Try creating a new XactMeasure dimension using DRF [A|B|C], I’m curious if the common datum is screwing things up...

          I attempted to, but Xact error reads "Tertiary datum is not valid when Primary or Secondary is a compound or pattern datum". Not sure if it is illegal via ASME, or just a software limitation.

          It's probably because you are defining datum features B and C as feature sets. Construct best-fit cylinders for each datum feature out of the measured circles.

        have you tried turning off PERP-TO-CL and see what happens? That should only be used if the hole is not square to an alignment axis.

          In exact measure you can't always turn off "perp to centerline". Actually rarely can you uncheck it. Up to V2016.

            Actually you can do it everytime, You just got to change your GD&T Standard to Custom, Then you can untick it in the nominals Tab. Doesn't appear until you do that.
