  • Turning a Scan into a UG Point File? Is it possible?

A request made by our customer, to turn a scan along a surface into a UG Point file.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Export the scan into an IGS file and it can be imported into UG(NX).
Make sure "scan as points" is selected under the setup window.

Specifically the scan as an IGS? or do you mean the program file?

Would you mind posting a quick step by step with some instructions/pictures in them?

From the menu go to Edit | Markings | Clear All.
Put the cursor on the scan you want to export and hit the F3 key to mark it.
From the menu go to File | Export | IGES.
Then type in the name you want for the IGES file and click Export.
Select the alignment you want the points to be relative to.
Tick the box "Marked Features Only"
Click the Setup button and make sure "Scans as points" is ticked.
Click the Process button and then click OK when it's done.

    That should do it.

Schrocknroll So i've tried this on a profile scan, and i opened the file and i only see where the hits appeared, but not a proper profile scan of the part.

See the photo attached for what I got, vs. what I'd like to get.

        What I have:
