  • Displaying deviation from CAD

I work with die casting now and starting to use CAD models. I want to be able to show the deviations of features on the graphics display vs CAD model. Is it possible to have arrows or something show the deviation angles, vectors, etc.?

I'm using v4.1 (Yes, I have to. Don't have authority to upgrade)
I used to be high on life but I built up a tolerance.

DIMINFO boxes will display on the graphics screen, is that what you are looking for?

I want to be able to display arrows or indicators to show which way features need to be moved on startups instead of trying to explain which way is x, y, z, etc. People here are not used to the reports so looking into alternative graphical representations.

The easiest way I have found is to rotate the CAD axis to match the machining center axis before dimensioning the features. That way all the deviations on the report match the offset of the machine tool.

Edit - preferences - setup under the general tab check the box Show hit deviations

I think this is what you are looking for

Any way to adjust the arrow size? They are tiny.

Does the MULT=1.00 change the size of the arrow (in the dimension line)?

highlight show hit deviations and change the deviation arrow multiplier to 3 or 4 this will change the size of the arrows

Ok guys, found it. I went into the dimension and turned on graphical analysis and turned up the multiplier. It shows my deviation directions from nominals.

                  Case closed!
