  • Help....Datum Error

I just crashed our CMM and now have a limp probe head and "datum error" light on the probe head controller display.

What do I need to do to reset it? I tried rebooting but that didn't work.

    The controller is a PHC10
    Probe head is a PH10MQ with a TP20

    Press the E-stop button
    Un fix the E-stop button
    press machine start
    clear probe and:
    A) Restart program
    B) Re-calibrate probe
    C) check that program 4 why it crash?

I see that you rebooted. Did you shut the machine and the computer completely down? If so, I believe you are DOA. How did the crash unfold? Did the actual head hit you're part(not the probe head on), or the probe from the side or other angle? Probably DOA. Brown and Sharpe has a RBE program (Repair By Exchange). 1-800-343-7933. Sorry for you're loss.

you need to shut off the power to the controller if it is seperate from the machine

if you have a HCU1 manual probe positioner...you need to hit the reset on it

if this still does not help.....do as James said....call for help
Which one gets ridden today? MPH vs MPG..tough choice, both are FUN

Yep, computer, machine controller and probe head controller were all powered down and then back up.

It was a direct hit, straight on .....with a little speed

Make sure the auto joint adaptor didn't come loose in the crash try tightening the screw at the back of it.

Do you have a Renishaw HCUI box that shows the probe angle. Can you manually make the head move by hitting the A/B +/- buttons. Should reset the head.

It doesn't do anything when I hit the buttons.

The red error light is also lit on it also.

Sounds like the Pulse Width Modulator Card is kaput, your service engineer should have it changed in 15 minutes.
