  • Linear Closed Scan

    I am doing a linear closed scan on ID square cutout. The problem is that when the probe comes to the corners it does a few weird moves that puts the surface profile out of tolerance. Is there a way to fix this or is there a way to delete the points in the corners and skip over the corners all together and still be able to keep scanning?.

    Maybe use 4 linear open scans ?
    I don't think you can scan accurately corners, because the stylus ball doesn't goes in, so the radius compensation cannot be right.

      OD, outside corner....

      If is IS some sort of a 'true' square profile, as in, 4 lines, just measure lines. Otherwise you will have to do 4 linear open scan, one on each edge.

          Make 4 separate linear open scans.

          Create one featureset out of the 4 scns. Hardcode it so PCD looks at all of the points from the scans.

          Do your usual dimensional output, but on the featureset itself.

            Yes correct, I just made generic points and called them "SCN"s and put them all at the same XYZ value because I did it quickly, real data would need actual XYZIJK values, hopefully he/she got my point

          A simpleton like myself... when I get nasty corners... I use freeform scan and delete the hits which can't make clean hits due to required tip size...and combine as a feature set.

          I don't know if the OP is using tactile or analog. anyway, the suggestion is just another condiment for the profile burger
