  • Probe woes

I screwed up and need help.

I normally run 3.7mr3 but the other day we wanted to run a part on V4.1. Well I followed Matt's instructions EXCEPT changing the path to the probe files. I did a full backup a couple days before this so after opening the program I said yes to updating my probe to V4.1. I realized I had messed up. After I was done with running the part in 4.1, I copied the original probe files back into my 3.7mr3 folder and thought everything would be OK. It is not. We ran our probe cal program but everytime I open a new part program I get an error stating illegal tip and must re-cal each probe again for that part.

    TIA

Uh-oh. I remember someone having this problem before. I don't remember if there was a solution. I'm going to guess that James will have an answer for you though.

If I remember right, I think (only THINK, mind you) that you will ahve to delete (or move) the probe files so that the older version of PCdmis can NOT find them AND you will have to make a 100% new program and THEN re-make the probe file. Simply deleting (or moving them) will not get rid of the error. You have to make them anew in a new program.

Thank you for the ideas. I'm gonna try one more thing before I delete and rebuild.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you open the program in 4.1 and save it back to a 3.7 program. Does it convert the probe file back too?

I think that was one of the bugs in either V4 or V4.1.

              HEY JAN! Where are you????????

Get it right Hoedeman. my name is James, or Jimi, not Jan.

Anyways, yeah Matt's right, delete the probe and build it anew. When I go from version to version, what I do is make a copy of my probe and results file, give thema name(usualyy specific to the version that I amgoing to be using(like Q03X20_42), and then any problems are alleviated. Just future information (FFYI?).

It's much funnier if you pronounce it guh-runess instead of guru-ness.

Really? Maybe that's why I included a smiley face in my post, eh?

Or, is it possible, that you have turned into an IT-WANNA-BE?

OMG, Kill it quick before it can reproduce itself!

Or, do you want to know how to use a network with Pcdmis?

PUD 'EM UP, PUD 'EM UP! I'll fight ya wit one hand tied behind my back!
I'll fight ya hoppin' onone foot.

Oh, pullin' an axe on me eh?
