  • Creating a width in the constructed feature menu

I am trying to create a width using this on a rough casting. I am measuring 2 planes on an inside space and picking 3D, inside.
I get the message surface vectors are not opposed. I have used this feature before in 2D and 3D with no problem.
Can it be the casting planes are not parallel enough?

Check the nominal (THEO) vectors of each plane. If, for example, the first plane has a vector of 0,1,0 then the second plane would need to have the opposite - 0,-1,0. If you manually taught the planes by probing points then this might explain why they're not parallel. If you picked the surfaces from the CAD model then it might be that there is a draft angle since you say it is a cast part.

I don't have a model and had to teach it. the Vectors are J .997 and J -.998. Thank you for your input

I manually changed the vectors to 1 and -1 and it worked for now, thank you again

Whenever you manually teach features, it's always in your best interest to clean up the THEO locations and vectors.
