PC-DMIS as a Subscription - customer feedback

Hi all, I am looking for some feedback for our initiative displayed above for Work from home special. PC-DMIS Off-Line lends itself well for a subscription model and we have had great response for WFH offer of a temporary free license. We think it would be a good opportunity for you (customer) to potentially convert the temporary license into a paid subscription.

Would you be interested in subscription model for PC-DMIS Off-Line?

Do you think the current price point is OK or do you have suggestions for a different one?

Anything that would drive your personal or company decision to purchase?

What is the IT thing that would get you to commit to a software as a service model or are you interested in only a node/SMA license?

Just looking to gather some feedback to see what you as a user are looking for.

For subscription I'd need it to be much cheaper.

I'm in the UK though so I think proper a offline license (which will keep working indefinitely) is only around twice the cost of a years subscription anyway.

MalcolmK71 As a Hexagon employee you really should introduce yourself and your role. I am also a Hexagon employee and I would not answer your above question. It is just seems so out of the blue. People are going to be skeptical.

It is an interesting topic - although I didn't really understand the way it was going until you mentioned you work for Hexagon. (agree with rjurca that it would have been smoother had you mentioned your employer up front )
That said, the proposition seems nice enough... however:

1. My company is only using PC-DMIS for Vision, and at the moment.... we might be selling it off (Optiv Dual Z 443 performance) and I have an Offline HASP/green fish as well. But the SMA stopped 10/31/19
2. It seems GD&T is making a large move forward from Xact to GD&T libraries in 2020 R2. And....as some have mentioned, the webinar was extremely informative (thx Rob J.)
3. Jumping in to the greatest/latest Offline release does not help to use it on any ONline machine. So that is not a real good sell point. Obviously we'd have to add the ONline as well.
4. I still have a sour taste in my mouth from Hexagon stopping Service Packs. I had some crappy problems in 2018 R2, but when my issues were finally fixed? I couldn't install them.
Hexagon decided to pull the plug. That move REALLY lost some trust in you guys.
5. I would need more details about a 'service model' .vs an SMA. (see #4 above)


I'll leave it at that......

As a subscription I think it would be much more appealing to freelance programmers who don't necessarily need all the tech support of an SMA if the cost is low enough. Ive had instances where someone has come to me asking about writing a program for them but they were out of state or too far to justify driving, and if I had an offline seat I could have easily done the work. Much more appealing to spend a monthly cost VS the lump sum for something I may not use enough to justify.

I was thinking along the same lines. If you were doing freelance work part time and had a few months without programming, you could cancel the subscription. When work came along you could subscribe again for that project.
