  • 3dconnexion Space Navigator lacking zoom speed adjust

I have been using a Space Navigator 3d mouse with PCMIS off and on for a little while, but cannot figure out how to get the speed of the zoom to change. It's stuck on a very slow speed. Tried contacting 3dconnexion with no luck. I saw something about a lighting menu setting that changes the mouse mode. I thought that might be the answer, but it's not in the version I'm using PCMIS 2017 R1.

On my desktop there is a 3Dconnextion Home app. When it opens there is settings > advanced settings and that will allow you to adjust the speed of each axis.

Also I just use my mouse wheel for zoom and all other axis on the Space Navigator

What @ELaFever2 . There are a bunch of different setting and customization options in there. My Spacemouse is my most valuable tool at work.

I've struggled with this issue as well. When I turn the speed up, it zooms along an axis that's not perpendicular to the screen and I loose the part. I end up just turning the zoom off entirely (that slider in the settings at zero) and using the mouse wheel

In general, PC-DMIS does not interface well with the 3D mice. They're so good I use them anyway, but get someone to let you try Solidworks or some other CAD system with one and compare the smoothness of motion.

Actually my problem is that adjustment to the zoom speed makes no difference whatsoever. The other speed settings work, the zoom slider works, but no change to zoom speed. I can use the mouse zoom but it would be preferable to use the 3d mouse.

So a few suggestions here. There is a master speed adjustment and individual adjustments for each axis. Try playing with those and see what you can come up with. I personally use the regular mouse for zoom but I have an issue with panning speeds, I can't get them quite fast enough but I work with it.

The other thing to try is turn on "dominant". That will only move the model with the most dominant control input so it will only move one axis at a time. I originally used dominant but turned it off after I tried it with the zoom axis turned off.

The spacemouse actually interfaces with DMIS quit well. I have the pro version with all the programmable keys so I have delete, end, save, alignments, f9, execute, and a few others programmed to those keys so I rarely have to go to the keyboard. Most useful tool that I have, aside from the CMM.

The master adjustment does nothing to the zoom speed. Tried dominant but the zoom remains the same slow speed. Possibly the Logitech mouse interferes or something. I guess I'm stuck with just using the mouse zoom. Thank you guys for the suggestions though!
