  • Point of Cone

    This should be simple,
    I'm checking a cone. How can I dimension the theoretical point of the cone.
    I'm using 2018 A0B0 , so the opening of the cone is on top (like the inside of a funnel)
    My dimension is a linear from near the face of the cone to the theoretical point of the cone.

    I've tried all the constructed point of a cone options that I know of, nothing seems to work.

    Please help me figure this out!

    Maybe not the best way, but it works:

    Assuming your cone axis is along Z,
    Level/Origin to the axis of the cone. Switch to X-workplane and create a line at X=0 on either side of the cone. Construct an intersection point from the 2 lines.

      I would do this but with 4 lines 90° 2 in the "X" and 2 in the "Y" make an intersecting point from each and then a midpoint between the 2 points.

    You can try :
    ASSIGN/V1=CON1.XYZ, which should be the vertex, then construct a generic point with V1.XYZ and dimension it

    You can also create a circle / cone/diameter/Ø=0 and dimension it.

      OK thanks people.
      Constructing the Circle / Cone / Height / 0 worked.
      Circle / Cone / Diameter / 0 also worked.
      Which I've tried unsuccessfully in the past to check a linear to a "Gage Dia" of a cone before.
      Using the Circle/Cone/Diam then entering in the Gage diameter will work for that now.

      FYI I've asked this gage Ø ? to Hexagon before, you know the ones that I pay thousands for my SMA and they were not able to get me this simple solutions.
