I never even got a reply for my original request to use the offline license and gave up... maybe they phoned the employer and got somebody who knew nothing about it but never heard a peep at all from Hexagon after trying to register
WIth the LMS server license option enabled, and the "@pcdmis-codefromhome.hexagonmi.com" text entered into the License Server field, it should not matter which build of 2020 R1 you choose to use. The license expiration date is well beyond either of these build dates. When you start the install, until it "loads" this license, there will be a message at the bottom of the license dialog indicating that a license is not found. That is because at that point there is no local license found. I've attached an image of this dialog for reference. Just press the NEXT button to proceed, don't let this license error mis-lead you.
ps: Sorry that the image is attached as preceding the original post, I will see if I can fix that later.

Hello, I've the same problem. Tried both versions anda the same result "could not communicate with license server".
I've talked with our IT tech and he told me that our computers are not getting any ping response with hexagon servers.
I'm trying to install in my laptop that didn't have any previous PC-DMIS instalation.
When I try it says my license expired and won't finish the install. I've tried both versions of 2020 available to download and put the string "@pcdmis-codefromhome.hexagonmi.com" in the LMS License Server section per the email... I'm trying to install it on a computer that currently has an online seat running 2015.1. Do I have to install it on a computer without PC-DMIS on it???
It does sound like it is looking at a HASP license, and not the LMS Server license. Please confirm/reply that you do not have a HASP installed when this is happening.
Its either that or there is a previous (local) LMS EID it is using, which in fact does have an expired date for this particular install of 2020, We could use CLM to remove that license, and use this temporary license, but that could get us into a situation which is more detrimental in the long run.
So yes, I would recommend you use this CodeFromHome temporary license on a different computer where you did not already have a PC-DMIS license.
Sorry, I was out today. Are you still having this issue? You do not need to install it on a separate computer, but it does sound like it is getting confused with the license. Run CLM and see how many LMS EID's it finds. Maybe it is grabbing the wrong one?
i uninstalled 2020 R1 and installed 2018 R2, it works......................
but sometimes i get same message "License not found ", at that time i use to re-start my Laptop......
And also it lags speed, for every mouse click it takes time to complete the action............
I have previous (HASP installed) versions on the PC - could that affect it?
Also I'm not familiar with the LMS system. If I look in CLM what should I expect to see? Are we borrowing a licence (Options tab, borrow licence tick box?).
I will try to address as many as I can of these issues, starting here. If you are trying to take advantage of the WorkFromHome initiative, please make sure the HASP is removed. If it is still problematic, please use the Settings Editor to export the registry keys and share it with me.
I just take my hasp home with me at the end of the day (work is OK with this as I do fix programs from home after I leave for the day). If I know I'm going to be off for a while it goes with me
Not working here as well. I get the same error message. Unable to open settings editor as it says I need admin privileges even though I run it in admin. Tried 2020 and legacy versions.
Good question, in CLM (1.7 on my system) it will not appear, as it is not an installed license. Let me check on this and other ways to confirm it is configured properly. I believe there are a couple of registry entries that are associated with this.
Check these settings please, in the Settings Editor, Licensing section -
LmsLicenseServers set to @pcdmis-codefromhome.hexagonmi.com
I have had some family issues that have come up requesting time off of work intermittently, so in order not to be buried in PPAPS etc... when I return...
Because of COVID-19 I now need to work from home. Because of ITAR Restrictions using the free offline license that is offered is not an option for me....
