  • Time for Thermonuclear Warfare on a Probe Changer

AGGGHHh! Pc-Dmis has me twisted in knots AGAIN!

Service left yesterday after installing a new sensor AND wrist ($$), still unable to calibrate the probe rack.

I NEED TO KEEP MOVING ON PRODUCTION.

    Nevermind the toolrack. BUT...

even with ALL THE PORTS CLEARED, THE MACHINE IS STILL TRYING TO LOAD/UNLOAD FROM THE PROBE RACK!

How do I completely remove all latent files from my directories?

    removing:

    C:\ProgramData\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2020 R1\toolc.dat

    has no affect.

You know, this has been the story with Pc-Dmis since 3.5 Mr2. 20 years of incompetent B.S.

I would go in EDIT/PREFERENCE/TOOL CHANGER, and select "0" in the number of probe changer.

Did you re_start the demon after deleting the toolc.dat ?

Oh yeah I got that one, and so does the demon: after I edit the number to "Zero", the "OK" and "Apply" buttons are still greyed out.

But I got it. You have to kill the file with PC-DMIS up and running, because it rebuilds the previous version at start up, then restart the demon, and it loads a blank tool changer dialog.

Cumofo did you try the change from inside PC-DMIS or from the Settings Editor? You may need to run the settings editor as administrator to affect changes to the registry.

any chance after you calibrate the rack it comes in just a little too low for the probe change? try a smaller ruby for the rack calibration if so... or something like that I ran into in the past

        Don is on to something:

The root cause is the FDC controller has its own registry settings that are unavailable to the user, those settings define which style probe rack "ports" are being used by a "1" or "0". The setting does not make any provision for two different style "Ports" to be used on any one machine, regardless of how many different racks you define. Choosing one or the other changes the canned offset for height and depth calculated after the calibration cycle has completed on all the "ports". So, only the ports which have their unique value enabled calibrate and function well, while the others crash so hard, the motors turn off, and the wrist un-clutches.

I believe you are referring to the "Shop Floor" setting?

Does this mean you got it working now?

I saw an install where the setting editor and PC-DMIS wasn't linked one to the other, so the parameters were never took into account.
Maybe you could ask your IT to check it.
