  • Basic Circle Scan # of Points

anyone know if it is possible to adjust the Point Number taken in a Basic circle scan i need more than 20 Points. 2018 R2 with scanning probe.

That is all controlled in your hit density.

      Assign/pi=acos(-1)
      assign/theo_length=circ1.td*pi
      assign/density_min=theo_length/20

Since the scan path is based on the center of the probe diameter travels as it scans the circle. Shouldn't it be:
        Assign/pi=acos(-1)
        assign/theo_length=(circ1.td-RUBY Ø)*pi
        assign/density_min=theo_length/20

DungT : I don't think so, because the hits are compensated... But maybe you're right, I can't check because of confinement...

JEFMAN :This’s how to calculate minimum points per mm for a complete 360° circle scan and not for partial circle when applying 50 upr with 7 points per undulation from my training book:
        Points per MM = 7/(((Size – Ruby Ø)*Pi)/50)

I am trying to set up scans of these 2 diameters but am not having much luck. anyone know how to do scanning that can help with the settings? PC Dmis 2018 R2 i want to get a good 100-200 points per diameter. not sure where to go with this there are so many settings.

those answers would be great i am sure if i knew what you were talking about, but then I wouldn't have to ask in the first place.

what is my best shot at getting 100+ points in a circle on my diameter?

Select anlalog scan strategy instead of default, then F9 and select the right density.

#1 ONLY use numbers, letters, and the underscore for labels in the program. Sooner of later, it will bit you in the neither regions.

As for SCAN DENSITY, it is in the OPT PROBE settings, should be at the very top of your program.

Try a density of 60 pts / inch, it should give approx 110 hits

how do I select analog scan strategy? I do not find that anywhere in the software to be an available choice.

this is not my program and i am trying to add scans of these two diameters as well as keep the current measurements in tact.

crank the SCANPNTDENSITY=7 up to a much higher number, you should get more points in your scan. 7 hits per inch is what I am guessing it is set at, but I thought it was a MM default, maybe not.
