  • Low air pressure

I am getting an error that says I have low air pressure.
    On my Global Advantage CMM
CMM reads 65PSI and that is what the book calls for.
Three other CMMs are running on same line same pressure and running fine.
    Any thoughts?

I also get low pressure warnings at 65 psi, the fix I inherited is to just bump up the pressure until the error goes away. Not sure if that's the right solution or not, just what i was told to do by my predecessor. I have been a hair under 70 psi for quite some time now, with no ill effects that I have seen.

Does your compressor supply any other machinery other than the CMM?

Take off your Z axis cover, on the right side there is a knob that adjusts the pressure to the Z rail. Increase that.

65 psi is the minimum requirement right? same here , but mine is set at 75 psi to allow for fluctuations in pressure

My The compressor supplies the whole shop and has for years. I do have three other CMMs in the lab two of which are using air also.
As far as minimum at 65lbs I don't think so, I think 65lbs is the mean suggested operating pressure.
Under the Z cover isn't that the counter weight?

It's a pneumatic adjustment for the counter balance. We've had to readjust several times after the compressor went down.

Just I found this on the Hexagon page for low air pressure.....

            Details

The following is a compiled list of the top 10 errors which are usually hardware-related. Hardware errors can get passed from the CMM to PC-DMIS and be presented within the PC-DMIS operating environment. Technical Support can suggest some solutions, but often these errors indicate that you will need to be transferred to Hardware and will require service to your CMM.

Check your filters, if you have a air dryer, I was at a place the filter was always filling up with water. just because it says 65 doesn't mean it isn't restricted

The pressure sensor/switch at your air inlet/gage will likely need to be replaced. It's a little black thing with two elelctrical prongs coming out of it, connected to a brass "T" adjacent to the gage on the side of your CMM. You should be able to find an exact replacement without issue. Otherwise, Hexagon will charge you about $800 for the entire filter/regulator/gage assembly.

Looks like sensor switch will need to be replaced.

                This might do the trick.
