  • GD&T question

Have print that has gone through an ECO, and I find it strange how they called out the position of a feature. I am not sure why they just didn't go with a .002 position call out with no material modifiers. I was going to update the report .002 with no material condition specified. Our quality leader does not like the idea. I see a problem that if the CMM reports out a position of .0023 it will show it as being in tolerance, unfortunately the operators only look at the color of the print out and not the .002 Max

You can truncate the size limits of the feature within the Position report so that it stops giving bonus after you reach .002.

Ex: You have a hole that is .750 - .754 that is positioned as you have shown. Tell PC-DMIS that the size limits on the hole are .750 - .751. It'll give you .001 Positional tolerance @ MMC and open up to .002MAX as you open up the hole. You can then have the report not show the hole size in that report command. Report the size individually.

That's pretty clever! But is there another way to remove the diameter from the report for the position dimension? If you're using material modifiers, Xact won't let you uncheck DF in the Advanced tab. At least in 2015.1...

Mike Ruff it isn't the best way, but what you can do is Right Click - Edit Object... - Uncheck Everything
