  • Adding a usrprobe.dat file...

Hi, I have a question about adding a tip file.
    (3.5MR2)
I have an existing usrprobe.dat file that has a cylinder tip in it.

    ITEM:TIP3.0BY13MMSHNK M2
    begintip
    ribcount 10
    color 142 142 142
    cylinder 0 0 0 0 0 -6 3
    cylinder 0 0 -6 0 0 -10 2
    color 255 0 0
    cylinder 0 0 -10 0 0 -14.5 3
    hotspot 0 0 -13 0 0 1 3 4 shank
    endtip
    ITEM:CONVERT_TO_M2THReD M3
    color 142 142 142
    cylinder 0 0 0 0 0 -7 4
    connect 0 0 -7 0 0 1 M2

I just got a smaller cyl. tip that is not in my library (1.5MM x 11MM)
Can I copy/paste/modify my existing probe file and create another usrprope.dat file? or add the new one to the existing file?
Since I don't know what all the numbers mean after the size, I'm kind of stuck.
Any help is appreciated as always.
    Thanks Mike

Do I modify this existing tip?
Do I have to change anything else besides the tip size?
      Thanks

copy the entire section within the same (USRPROBE.DAT) file. If the length of the stylus (and everything above it) is identical, you need only to modify the diameter on the last CYLINDER line and the diameter on the HOTSPOT line.

        The Cylinder lines contains -
        geometry X1 Y1 Z1 X2 Y2 Z2 Diameter

        The Hotspot line contains -
        X Y Z I J K Diameter Length connection_type

This is from memory, so I might be slightly off. . .

          Go...

          HERE

...for a document on the description of the probe files.

It gives me an error message after measuring the ball?? Out of tolerance.
It seems the diameter is 1/2 what it should be.??

              OK, Got It

I forgot to change the Diameter in the hotspot line.
I think I got it now.
              Thanks for the help.
