  • Origin offset submitting in reverse

    hello

when are doing jig alignment with custom offset to each origin we submit the origin in reverse so that machine reads it correctly for exemple if i i want make my z origin 600 i have to submit -600 in the field , so that i can read 600 when i bring the probe close to the plane , why ?

Check the directions of your alignment axises?

The trihedron (blue/green/red arrows) display the positive direction of your alignment axises. Make sure these match the prints axises (points in the same direction). It sounds like these have been flipped in your part program, meaning that you need to use negative values when you were expecting to use positive.

The offset is telling the software HOW MUCH to move the zero and in which DIRECTION to move it. If you measure a plane, level & origin to it, you then must tell it HOW FAR and WHICH DIRECTION to offset it to make it read 600.

Yeah, new math, and core math, pretty much destroyed the easiest way to explain.

NUMBER LINE. You are moving the ZERO point along a number line, how much and how far, to make the feature read the value you want it to read.

Mranaskw is clearly new to PC-DMIS, and based on their posting times English might not be their first language.

When you set the origin to a plane (or other feature) it sets the axis zero point to that feature. If you want that feature to be at +600 in the Z axis you will need to move the Z origin down 600 (-600). The Z origin is now 600 lower than the feature.
