  • Automatic Backoff on Hexagon

Is there a global setting that allows the machine to backoff automatically when touching a part manually? I have two identical machines, one newer that automatically backs off the part when manually probing and one that does not. I can’t seem to locate any information on it.

    Thanks

Not at the machine, but I believe if you type in "manretract" you can set it to whatever distance you'd like.

Some controllers support it, others don't. I think you can disable it on ones that do, but can't enable it on ones that don't.

Be careful with the auto retract. You must travel with enough distance for the controller to see the vector direction of the hit that you take.
So if you sneak up on your hit and are too close it will not retract away from the part. it will dive into the part.
Many many years ago PCDMIS did not allow you to turn it off ver 2.0 something and I had to learn the hard way with broken equipment.
