measuring a tight angle between two circles in a slot

Hi all, I'm having trouble getting good results on parts which have been proven good by another cmm.

I have my datum set in the middle of a hex feature as per the drawing, and one side of this hex has an angle to a slot. (34° +/- 0.25) the problem is I'm getting really inconsistent results. the problem is the line between the 2 circles on the end of the slots is 1.5mm long maximum and this seems to be causing issues.

I've tried different alignments and features and nothing is working. If anyone has any last ditch attempts I would be grateful to hear them!

Without some code all is just a guess, are you sure the circle hits are correct and are not hitting on the small flat area.
